The Sultanate of Oman has created new realms for the romantic idea of Safari, evocative of danger and adventure, the notion of safari originated in the era of big game hunting in east Africa in the 19th century. The word safari originated from the Arabian word 'SAFARLY' meaning 'trip'. Now in Oman the original Arabian meaning has returned. The safari is simply travelling to see wonders whether these are natural or scenic or cultural. The landscapes in the sultanate are so exotic, varied and beautiful. Hence, we can speak of landscape safaris in the desert, in the mountains, on the coastline and across the plains. Also, there are sea safaris for sighting dolphins, whales and sea birds.
Oman's heritage has been uncovered in archaeological sites of surprising antiquity. Spread throughout the country. These sites can be the object of a thrilling adventure safari across magnificent landscapes. Highlights include three UNESCO Cultural World Heritage sites.
